Since I'm retiring in little more than a year,

I am making the rounds of medical offices, attending to things that need follow up or could be improved while I still have pretty good health insurance. You could say sort of tying up loose ends; but that might become a pun in poor taste.

No one wants details, I'm sure, so suffice it to say I'm covering the gamut from top to bottom. As nurse in my regular doctor's office said, we've got all body parts scheduled for attention.

How fortunate to be able to do this. Next time I complain about any sacrifices I've made, or the difficulties I've experienced, someone should remind me that I have earned a living, I get medical care as needed, I eat too well and I am free to say what I think (for the most part, anyway; in deference to persons higher in the chain of command at work and because I really like getting a paycheck, I sometimes do not express my opinion).

And, as I contemplate leaving my current employment but maybe not completely leaving the work force, I think of possible opportunities to supplement income. I'm thinking Starbuck's could be a fine source of the liquid that awakens me from my nightly dormancy and additional income. On-line employment is everywhere; just have to find something I'm able to do that someone will pay for (and that's pretty much legal, I guess).

If I knew how to do something useful that could fill time, exert my brain and provide a sense of personal satisfaction, I might not have much interest in employment for pay. But that's a big IF.
