Monday morning .....

loved that song, but not when it seems to apply.  Well, I'm not having enormous problems; I just keep making lots of small, ordinary ones for myself.

Turns out I cannot make a good quiche; I think it's edible, but it ain't pretty.  Haste makes waste comes to mind. Wrap up a hot quiche and you'll get soggy eggs in a pie shell.  Learn something (or have it reaffirmed) every day.

What was my excuse for making a mess Sunday?  Can't think of one.  Made pineapple-upside down cake, using a crumb cake batter.  Saw this recommended in a crumb cake recipe and thought it sounded mighty fine. Well, again, it tastes pretty good but is not pretty to see.  Note to self: Do NOT cut warm cakes.

And I know better; not like I'd never been in a kitchen before.  Well, at least I can still make bread (matter of fact, I'm world-famous in K'ville for bread). The whole wheat rolls with dried cranberries are fine.  They came out as expected. Of course, I didn't wrap them up while they were hot, which would have made them into gooey gobs.

All this reminds me of the time I went into Mama's kitchen (intending to get into mischief) and started making a chocolate cake, without benefit of knowledge, experience, recipe or Mama.  When she noticed I was MIA, she found me up to my elbows in chocolate soup.  I recall she turned that mess into something edible, and I can tell you that a bowl of sugar, cocoa, milk and eggs does not a dessert make.

And, on top of it all, my kitchen looks like a war zone, at least a disaster area. Had project in process (insufficient storage requires one to rethink what's necessary) and everything's spread every where.  Again, not terribly important, but pretty ugly.

Sorry, Mandy.  It's going to be a PAIN to clean.
