Recalling things noticed on recent trip,

the truck we were behind on the trip to train in Rocky Mount was crammed (and I do mean crammed) full of chickens.  With windows closed and air conditioning running, there was no odor; but it was disconcerting to see nonetheless.  Could cause one to become a vegetarian, maybe.  OF course, I've eaten chicken since then so I suppose I have no conscience regarding the treatment of animals.

Also helps one understand that we ARE animals in the manner with which we deal with other species.  BUT there's ample proof of that all around.  As well as proof that we are animals in the manner in which we deal with our own species.

Watched Elizabeth I with Helen Mirren et al; very good production, but not for the faint of heart or folk with weak stomachs.  Included scenes I had to fast forward through.  The British, although considered quite civilized by standards of the time I'm sure, were blood thirsty and most cruel to their enemies.

Maybe that hasn't changed; maybe we're still like that, in terms of our political and military actions.  We're more efficient and effective I guess in torturing and destroying each other.  Such progress.
