Although it may sound like a complaint,

I am thankful I can have medical treatment and assistance even if getting it can be a real bother. As discussed several times here I have seen several doctors and some of them multiple times. I'm being treated or at least seen for problems from my scalp to my feet. That pretty much includes everything.

The fact there's so much volume of stuff between head and feet may be a source of some of the problems. Anyone with a weight problem has probably been told that the excess weight is the reason for _________________ (fill in the blank with any malady). No doubt that is often true.

And since dietary issues are the basis of most weight problems, they may also form the source of other physical problems. Remember when teenagers were cautioned about eating chocolate because it caused, or at least contributed to, acne?

Now we understand some benefits derived from chocolate. I don't eat it all the time, but do partake and do not believe it has caused my middle-age acne. That's a double whammy for sure. One of the benefits of aging could at least be acne subsiding. Aint' always the case.

I don't think weight and dietary stuff is the source of visual maladies, that is, short of being drunk and not being able to see maybe. And I have not been in that circumstance, thank you.

Yesterday the ophthalmologist explained to me the presence of anterior epithelial basement membrane dystrophy (ain't that a mouth full!). Those fancy words mean that the surface of the cornea in my left eye is bumpy, not smooth, and creates or transmits poor images through the lens to the retina. SO before we do surgery for my cataracts which may not be required at present, we'll treat the membrane dystrophy first.

I'm all for NOT doing surgery until it's really necessary; so I add a THIRD eye drop to my daily regimen. As I was whining unnecessarily, the doctor pointed out (my bad) that using eye drops was better than having him sand the surface of my cornea. Yow! Well, I shut up real quick.

That sanding stuff put it all in a different light (pun intended) and I will NOT complain about the drops and ointments going into my eyes. Not when I seriously consider (from the perspective of losing eye sight) how important my vision is and how I love reading, viewing films and television, looking at beautiful east TN and seeing the beautiful and handsome faces of my children . . . not complaining at all.
