And another thing . . .

I really dislike the recorded background music and narratives on so many business phones.

I was on hold yesterday for several minutes and listened to elevator music and repeated assurances of how important my call was to that office, how they were really interested in talking with me, they would get to me as soon as possible and please wait so they could provide their excellent service to me.

My response to all that?  El toro do-do.

I was phoning a medical office to make an appointment; when they got to me, it was still not very satisfactory. It took several more minutes for the lady on the other end to get the information she needed from me (just to make the appointment, mind you).  To add to that the first available appointment was September 21.

Then, wonder of wonders, I got the name of another service provider and phoned that office.  They took my call immediately; they were quite friendly; I have an appointment today and if they need info from me, I'll provide it at their office.

Cancelled the appointment with the first office; pretty sure they don't need me and even though the person I spoke with to cancel seemed surprised I didn't reschedule, they won't miss me.

Both offices provide services I must get from one of them, but I think some providers forget there may be choices.  Vive' la consumer!
