Now here's a good word, one that describes

a trait that is desirable, at least by one definition. Vicissitude is the quality of being changeable. That quality would be beneficial if the second meaning comes about, that is an unexpected change, or difficulty beyond one's control.

I imagine most of us know someone who cannot change, or at least finds it quite difficult. Not that we should all change all the time; we are the way we are and probably can't change much about ourselves. But sometimes isn't it important to see something from another point of view, or consider using a different approach, or try to open our minds more?

I can tell you that circumstances can force us to do things differently, and not in ways we like. Most of us know that, too.

Guess it's not good to change too much, too often, too carelessly. We probably all know folk like that as well. You don't know where or what they're gonna be from time to time. Scary if you live with them, or work with them, or must interact with them.

BUT if you deal with someone who will NOT or CANNOT change, it's quite challenging. You know the old, my way or the highway. My challenge is realizing when I should hear the other person, but still do it my way, or when I should try their way.

Ol' Blue Eyes said, "I did it my way." I don't think he meant he was always right or always happy.
