Watched the DVD and listened to the CD

last week (again) to The Band from TV. The music's good and they have so much fun that it is great to watch and/or listen to. The ONLY reason I bought the set was Hugh Laurie, who's on piano in the band and sings. We get to see some of his muscianship on House 'cause Greg plays guitar and piano, but we don't see enough of it.

He shares the stage and credits with all the Band/TV members but that's fine. Some of their numbers are better than his, I suppose. But I like him very much so I love his numbers. The concert and discs were produced for charity so I felt completely justified getting the discs to enjoy the performances.

Will be having more work done at the house, nothing big (yet). I've had so little motivation to do anything at, to or with the house that I need to strike while I'm feeling it. Would like to repaint as I'm tired of the colors and the walls are looking a little worn--seems I'm rough on my living space.

IF I choose paint colors well, I can improve living room and bedroom with stuff I already have. AND I do NOT plan to buy furniture, at least not right now. At dinner last week a friend and I mentioned the possibility of swapping painting; that is, I help her and then she helps me. It's true any job is easier and probably more fun if you've got help, especially if it's someone you enjoy. So that sounds like a good idea.

Finished reading Manhattan Transfer by Dos Passos; quite an interesting book, unusual from my perspective. I feel, though, that I better understand NYC in the early 20th century; it was a rough place.

Just starting the book club selection for July, The Monk Downstairs. It's fine so far, no real opinion yet.

Was looking at the stack of books in the living room waiting for me; I like having that stack of books and my intent is to read them all. If I live long enough, I'll read those and others. What a joy a good book is.
