If you love words

you might like reading dictionaries, as I do. I'm drawn to words and their use. I look up words I find in books, magazine articles, work-related materials, or even things I hear on the radio or television.

I don't always remember them, and I may not use them, but I find it quite interesting. I've been accused of using too many big words; if I use a big word, it's my attempt at improving my vocabulary and I think it's fun. Of course, I just might appear to be uppity; I've seen the look on someone's face when they think I'm acting too fancy. Ain't what I mean to do, but oh well.

This week I learned 'omphaloskepsis' which means to gaze at your navel, for contemplation or meditation. What a great word! I bet we've all been in that state, or we've used such an approach; I certainly have and know others who have.

So I'll keep looking up words I don't know, and if I can use one I'll do it. If you think I'm a big smart aleck, you can say so. I can probably find a big word to help you tell me.
