Actually feeling badly for Rosey since

she stayed at my place with the doggies and I went to Hotlanta to play. Staying at my place is not terrible, mind you, unless something goes wrong. AND this is the third time I can recall that something's gone wrong when she stayed there. I think the first time was the hot water heater going belly up, so to speak.

Then the smoke alarm that went off and couldn't be turned off (although that did involve burned popcorn as I recall).

And lastly this week end, the water was turned off. No, no. I had paid the bill. It actually wasn't my fault, but timing as they say is everything. Apparently a water pipe broke Friday (and I was on the road) and my very good neighbor knew what was wrong and turned the water off at the street. OF course, the broken pipe was on my side of the meter and was my problem, which KUB was pleased to point out.

However, when Rosey got in Friday evening she found the house without water and called me in a panic. She also called KUB who did send a person out to confirm that it had been turned off, there had been a leak due to a broken pipe and it should stay turned off and I would have to have it fixed.

Learning that via phone, I was able to contact a very reliable home repair person and schedule repairs for today. The good news: I wasn't going to pay for week end/emergency repairs; the bad news: Rosey didn't have water at my place all week end.

The dogs got bottled water (gallon jugs of the stuff can be had cheaply). And Rosey went to her place to bathe. Of course, we don't want to discuss toilets without running water. When I got home Sunday afternoon, I filled a bucket at my neighbors outdoor faucet and fixed the toilet problem; but it's not a topic for polite conversation.

By the time the pipe was dug out and replaced and the water turned back on this morning, I was quite ripe and ready to bathe. And how wonderful that shower and flushable toilet are.

It is good to keep things in perspective. Not having water could have been a serious problem, but it was short-lived. AND, it was not the electricity or the air conditioning. Imagine the 90+ temps and high humidity without power or AC. Well, if I'd been home I wouldn't have been home.

Trip to Atlanta to JM's was quite nice; we had a good visit, enjoyed some good food and wine, and watched some good video music and comedy. We also managed to find, purchase and install new rug in her dining room, which was no small task. Without going into detail, the weight of a good wool rug and weight of her dining room table offered significant challenges to this old bod; but we got 'er done by golly! Tell us what you want done and get outta the way.

In addition, we began discussing trip to Europe. This was quite preliminary and we need to identify with much more specificity where we wish to go and what we want to see. It'll probably take the entire 2 years to prepare; but that's certainly OK.

Yes, all in all 'twas a fine week end.
