If a friend shares a wonderful story, you probably

shouldn't use it yourself. At book club, B. told a hilarious story about couple of her birds (she has several, and we won't discuss how many here). We were sitting around our table of Indian cuisine laughing out loud. I'll tell a couple of folk in person, but I can't claim any right to the story since it all happened to B. and her birds.

I've not lived with birds (well, I've always had cats and it could have been ugly); and I truly had no appreciation for the personalities they display. Evidently they can be bright and entertaining, and evidently good company. Who knew?

Bird stories and the ensuing talk of dogs and cats superseded discussion of the book. The Life of Pi is an interesting read, but you have to pay attention to this type book, not frothy or lightweight stuff. The book was the reason for the choice of restaurant/meeting place. Our club seems to be as much about fellowship as reading the books, but still I read books I might not otherwise select.

It's my turn to pick the book; so should it be something of a holiday bent (it'll be the December selection after all) or just a good book? More on that later.
