thanksgiving, and lots of them do not cause you to feel thankful. After a week end without AC, but thankfully(!) one with rain and somewhat lower temperatures, I've learned I should replace my HVAC system. Well, I'd love a new system; it'll be more energy efficient, which should result in reduced cost, and I should be able to keep the house cooler or warmer more effectively, and I will consume less energy for better ecology. And it'll cost about $4,800.
I'm probably like many other folk when I say, I don't have that kind of money laying around. Fortunately, there is an energy program available through our local utility company; if qualified, I get the new system, the contractor gets paid, and I'll pay it back monthly. SO there's a reason to feel thankful.
IF everything happens for a reason (and that was an 'if'), maybe replacing the HVAC system is the precursor I need to getting the house ready to sell. I've become pretty complacent, read lazy, and would prefer to not make the effort. I'm so good at running in circles, sweating to show how hard I work, but accomplishing so little, it'll be nice to get something done.
I will focus on how good it will be to have a house that's cleaned, refreshed, fixed up, improved; i.e., marketable. I've talked for years about needing to downsize, so I could put my head & hands & pocketbook where my mouth has been.
Just thinking about improved environs makes me smile.
